Introductie

This lesson is part of a short scheme of work designed to introduce your year 7 students to the world of geography. Each slide has been designed be easy to understand, and provides a variety of interactive learning opportunities throughout. Some slides may have a short description, or teacher instruction to help you navigate the subject, and can be edited and adapted as you see fit. Having atlas' to hand is essential for these lessons, to allow your pupils to explore the information provided to them. 'Progress in Geography: KS3' from Hodder education is the perfect companion textbook to this short scheme.

Instructies

This lesson introduces your students to the concepts of geography, and what it means to be a geographer. Your students should be encouraged to talk about their experiences of geography and share any prior experience with the subject they may have already!

This is a lesson meant to ease your students into the subject and allow you to get to know them, and their prior abilities, in a structured, engaging and enjoyable way.

As always, every slide can be edited in any way you see fit and saved to your area for future use.

Slide 7 - Poll

It's a good idea too to explain that liking a subject doesn't always mean you like all of it. For example, people who love PE will have to take part in an activity or sport that they probably don't like, and people who like art will certainly be challenged to learn styles and skills that won't be their favourite. Highlighting what your own favourite though, is a great way to get inspired to learn more about the areas that interest you, and the higher up in education you go, the more specialised you can become! But it would be a shame to miss something out just because you assumed it was boring...
Why are you interested most in that area?
Be as descriptive as possible!
